Sculptra

Age-induced collagen loss occurs at 1% per year after age 20. By age 45, 25% of collagen is lost. This weakens skin structure causing fine lines and wrinkles and reduces skin volume, elasticity, and moisture.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an FDA approved injectable treatment that helps improve the appearance of wrinkles, folds, and sagging skin. It works by stimulating your body’s natural production of collagen which restores facial volume and smooths out wrinkles.

Sculptra is different. It harnesses the body’s natural abilities activating your skin’s natural regenerative process to restore lost collagen which provides internal skin structure.

How does Sculptra work?

Sculptra is made up of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which is a biodegradable and safe material. PLLA is a biocompatible and is gradually absorbed by the body and helps to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin, resulting in an improved appearance over time.

The poly-L-lactic acid formulation is a volumizing agent. Several treatments over the course of a few months stimulate deep skin layers to produce fresh collagen. A strong meshwork of this fibrous protein supports and firms skin for up to two years of rejuvenation.

How is Sculptra different from fillers?

Sculptra is unique. It is injected into the skin to stimulate the patient’s own natural collagen production. It is an excellent treatment for someone who is looking to restore a little volume that has been lost naturally and slowly. The treatment is safe and effective at slowing the aging process while improving the skin’s tone and texture.

Unlike dermal fillers, Sculptra does not offer instant results. Initially, you will experience swelling, and fullness from the injections that fades over a few days. Over the course of 6-12 months the body produces new natural collagen. The result is a gradual and very natural improvement.

Treatment typically requires three to four sessions spaced three to six weeks apart. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes, and results can be seen within two to three months. Results may last up to two years or more depending on several factors such as your age and lifestyle choices.

What can Sculptra treat?

Sculptra can be used to treat a wide range of issues in the face and neck area. It is often used to correct wrinkles, creases, and folds around the nose and mouth. It can also help plump hollows beneath the eyes, restore lost volume in the cheeks, jawline, brows, temples, and chin, and fill out sagging skin. Sculptra can also be used to improve the appearance of acne scars or other scarring on the face.

Sculptra is an excellent option for anyone looking for a long-lasting solution to reduce wrinkles and restore lost facial volume.

Who is a good candidate for Sculptra?

This wrinkle reducer is ideal for women and men who prefer gradual change. Results can be seen within two to three months after treatment but can continue to improve over time.

How long does Sculptra last?

Sculptra typically lasts for two years or more depending on several factors such as your age and lifestyle choices. It is important to note that the results of Sculptra are not immediate. It takes time to see the full effects.

Who should not use Sculptra?

You should not use Sculptra if you are pregnant, have active infections or tumors in the area to be treated, have a history of allergies, or are prone to scarring. Individuals with autoimmune diseases should also consult their doctor before undergoing this procedure.

Sculptra is an effective and safe treatment for those looking for a long-term solution to reduce wrinkles and restore lost facial volume. It is important to talk to your doctor about whether it is the right treatment for you.
